Sweden has had a rich history of incredibly talented musical acts that have taken the entire world by storm. The biggest-selling Swedish bands include Abba, Roxette, Ace of Base, and the group that is set to rock the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on January 22nd – Europe.
Europe initially formed in Stockholm in 1979 under the name “Force.” Thereafter, a name change soon preceded a sort of battle of the bands in 1982 when Europe bested 4,000 other groups to win a record contract that yielded the self-titled inaugural album, Europe. The follow-up, Wings of Tomorrow, got everyone to take notice before the one that would resound with music lovers on every continent, The Final Countdown.

Led by riveting vocal tenor Joey Tempest – as well as guitarist John Norum, bassist John Levén, keyboardist Mic Michaeli, and drummer Ian Haughland – Europe continues to thrive with more than 23 million albums sold thus far. The band’s latest album, War of Kings, released in March 2015, offers the same non-stop harmonic flair that has characterized the band from its inception until now.
On January 22nd, at the historic and recently restored Saban Theatre (formerly the Fox Wilshire Theatre) in Beverly Hills, Europe promises to show why its legacy – underscored by timeless hits like “The Final Countdown,” “Carrie,” “Rock the Night,” “Cherokee,” “Love Chaser,” “Open Your Heart,” and more – is forever safe in the annals of time.
Be sure to see the rock legends in person with a concert that will energize, electrify, and excite.
