Since the mid-18th century – perhaps even earlier – the circus has delightfully entertained people of all ages, whether they are old or young, married or single. Not even modern-day professional sports have always been able to match the pure athleticism, acrobatic ingenuity, and mind-blowing creativity that goes into the nuances of every circus performance. Truly, the circus performer is one of a kind with regard to showmanship, flexibility, and agility.
In continuing the tradition of classic entertainment that is not only here to stay, but is more enthralling than it has ever been, is Circus Vargas, the revered family-friendly touring company. Suffice it to say, the circus company has been taking Southern California by storm since beginning its residency in Burbank on May 12th (May 23rd at 7 pm is the last showing) with the production of iLUMINOUS, a beautifully unique show where many of the performers often appear illuminated!
Next on the itinerary is the Ventura County Fairgrounds on 10 W. Harbor Blvd., where Circus Vargas will set up its tent between May 26th and May 30th. Following that, the troupe will be in Santa Ana at the Mainplace Mall on 2800 N. Main Street between June 2nd and June 6th. Then, the cast will regale audiences in Irvine at the Orange County Great Park on C Street from June 9th through June 13th. Finally, on the last leg of its SoCal tour, the performers will show off their many feats in Woodland Hills at the Westfield Promenade on 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd. between June 23rd and June 27th.
Those who attend will be in store for a smorgasbord of sensations, including laughter, awe, curiosity, and appreciation for the bevy of amazing acts that will be on display.
Some of these will include the Skating Torreblancas, a death-defying triumvirate of roller-skating virtuosos; the all-female Osmani Trio, who can expertly dance and contort their bodies with pristine precision; the Ukrainian gymnastic team, Yeromenko, which has applied its pliant talents to a jaw-dropping routine; and, the Flying Tabares, who are exceedingly well-versed in the area of trapeze artistry.
Tickets range between $15-$35 for general admission and between $35-$70 for reserved ringside seating. To purchase tickets, visit www.circusvargas.com
