It’s that time of the year again when we get to grab a coat and a loved one and saunter over, in splendid style, to the rooftop of The Montalbán Theatre on 1615 Vine Street in Hollywood, or the LEVEL rooftop terrace on 888 S. Olive Street in Los Angeles, to take part in the multifaceted fun of the Rooftop Cinema Club.

Frankly, it’s the ideal night out for the 18-and-over crowd, who can experience films in the lovely and cool open air, for affordable tickets beginning at only $19. With an adjustable headset allowing for customized volume, along with comfortable deck chairs to sit in while enjoying cocktails, well-crafted street food, candy, and, of course, blissfully buttered popcorn, there are a varied selection of films to choose from through the end of May at the two R.C.C. locations. These are slated to include ones that are timeless (universal and cult classics), commercially recognized, underrated, Oscar-appreciated, a celebration of women in film, and much more.

For those who might be inclined to snuggle up under the stars atop The Montalbán, which also boasts pristine audio and Canon 4K projection, the season opener on April 4th – I, Tonya — is as great a choice as any. It features superb performances by Margot Robbie, and Academy Award-winner Allison Janney, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Harding’s mother.

The ritzy LEVEL rooftop, which is reminiscent of the finest luxury, and just steps away from the hub of DTLA, will also be a prime-time destination to be at when The Big Lebowski opens there on April 6th.

The Jeff Bridges-John Goodman cult hit will be followed by a series of marvelous movie nights such as Drive on April 10th, Frances Ha on April 11th, Heat on April 13th, Coco on April 18th, Lady Bird on April 19th, Blade Runner: 2049 on April 21st, The Greatest Showman on April 25th, Thor: Ragnarok on April 26th, The Silence of the Lambs on April 28th, Goodfellas on May 2nd, Sleepless in Seattle on May 3rd, Pulp Fiction on May 5th, Battle of the Sexes on May 8th, Pretty Woman on May 9th, The Post on May 12th, It on May 16th, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on May 22nd, The Godfather on May 25th, The Dark Knight on May 26th, and lastly, Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the exciting action-drama Brick on May 31st.
