La Mirada Theatre & McCoy Rigby Entertainment’s ’25-26 Season: Jason Alexander to Direct ‘Sweeney Todd,’ ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong,’ & More

Date:

La Mirada Theatre and McCoy Rigby Entertainment is riding high after a record-breaking year in 2024-25, doing gangbusters business at the box office and delivering its most amazing run of shows yet. Audiences raved over Desi Oakley’s heartfelt turn in Waitress, Jason Alexander’s incredible performance as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and the side-splitting splendor of The Play That Goes Wrong. With Legally Blonde and Frozen set to close out the current season, the theatre is already looking ahead to an exciting 2025-26 lineup that promises more magic, mischief, and unforgettable moments.

Kicking off the new season, Come From Away (Sept. 19 – Oct. 12, 2025) brings a fresh take on the inspiring true story of Gander, Newfoundland, where the small town welcomed thousands of stranded travelers after 9/11. It’s a heartwarming tale of humanity and connection, packed with evocative music and a reminder of our shared global family.

Next up, expect more hilarity with Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Oct. 31 – Nov. 23, 2025). After the runaway success of The Play That Goes Wrong, which only ended its run last month, it’s no surprise the bumbling Cornley Drama Society is back, this time tackling the classic tale of the boy who wouldn’t grow up. Mishaps, flying fiascos, and cast squabbles will have audiences in stitches as Neverland gets turned upside down.

The new year brings a darker thrill with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Jan. 30 – Feb. 22, 2026), directed by none other than Jason Alexander. Fresh off his acclaimed role in Fiddler on the Roof, Alexander returns to La Mirada Theatre to step behind the scenes and helm Stephen Sondheim’s chilling masterpiece. Set in 19th-century London, this bloody tale of revenge follows the vengeful barber and his pie-making partner, Mrs. Lovett, as they serve up a twisted kind of justice—and meat pies.

Spring lightens the mood with Mean Girls (April 10 – May 3, 2026), Tina Fey’s razor-sharp musical about high school hierarchies. Cady Heron navigates the wilds of suburban Illinois, tangling with the queen bee Regina George and her clique, “The Plastics.” It’s a biting, laugh-out-loud ride that’ll have you rethinking popularity contests.

Closing the season, Anastasia (June 5 – June 28, 2026) sweeps audiences from the Russian Empire to 1920s Paris. This lush musical follows Anya’s journey to uncover her heritage, with dazzling costumes, a soaring score featuring “Journey to the Past,” and a heartfelt story of love and family that’ll leave you misty-eyed.

La Mirada Theatre and McCoy Rigby Entertainment’s 2025-26 season offers something for everyone—heart, humor, chills, and spectacle. Before the curtains rise, it’s always a good idea to take in the unique ambience by the lobby’s comforting fireplace while enjoying candy, a drink, or a sandwich—not to be forgotten is the charming outdoor patio café. For theatre aficionados and first-timers alike, La Mirada amounts to a five-star night out. Whether you’re craving the uplifting spirit of Come From Away, the chaotic laughs of Peter Pan Goes Wrong, the dark brilliance of the Alexander-directed Sweeney Todd, the snark of Mean Girls, or the tragic romance of Anastasia, La Mirada Theatre and McCoy Rigby Entertainment’s got your ticket to the best approximation of Broadway on the West Coast.
