They are perhaps one of the most talented 2-man rock bands we’ve ever had on LAXposed and they are called “Pine Cone Wars”. The group currently consists of lead singer/guitarist, Aaron Graham, and keyboardist/drummer, David Boehme. Originally called “Route 7” and from Seattle, Washington, their past included a third bass guitarist and numerous awards also under the name, Pine Cone Wars. At one point, they were named by Teen People Magazine as “The best unsigned band in America” after competing with over 400 bands in the annual World Folk Battle of the Bands. The odd sounding band name they currently use is a homage to the childhoods of the members as they would throw pine cones at each other for fun. In 2013, they have gained quite a bit of notoriety on YouTube for their spectacular new cover songs of other popular artists such as Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Niki Minaj, Adele, and Chris Brown. Their last big hit was a cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”, which was done with Ayda Mosharaff, who was a contestant on the “Voice of Turkey”. Their cover song has now reached nearly 200,000 views with most saying it’s better than the original! Every song they do is touched with their own style of very melodic rock and roll. The band has said in the past they are/were influenced by the Goo Goo Dolls, The Beatles, U2, Oasis, and many more.
Today, we release a video from our vault that was filmed back in 2010 during the very first season of LAXposed on UCLAradio. Pine Cone Wars performs three songs live on the show and shortly after they are interviewed by a very different and more comedic, Cameron Kash. This is a highlight real of their live set and interview on LAXposed!
